الملخص:The Constitution of 1839, known as the "Constitution of Huancayo", was a milestone in Peruvian history that established the foundations of the State at a time of political instability. The objective of the essay was to determine the foundations, background, characteristics and organization of the powers of the State in said constitution, and its impact on the constitutional evolution of Peru until the promulgation of the Constitution of 1993. This Magna Carta defined the powers of the State at the national, regional and local levels, promoting a balanced and representative political system. When comparing the Constitution of 1839 with that of 1993, a significant evolution was evident with the introduction of decentralization, universal suffrage and the expanded protection of human rights. The essay was based on an exhaustive review of bibliographic sources and constitutional documents of the time. The essay concluded that the Constitution of 1839 laid the foundations for a more solid and representative state structure, whose legacy could be traced in the evolution of subsequent Peruvian constitutions, culminating in the important democratic advances of the Constitution of 1993.
